This week I would like to share with you an incident that occurred where I am employed.  We discovered a woman who worked with us was stealing from the company, so we dismissed her from the job.  Of course, we didn’t want to do this, but we couldn’t trust her anymore, so it had to be done.  This incident reminded me of the importance of Christian values.  If this woman were serving God, she might have been tempted but would not have followed through with stealing from the company.  God gives each of us who serve Him, power to avoid sinning.  This is one of the many positives of serving God; you will never be fired from a job for stealing.  So, stay encouraged and continue to serve the Lord.  God will bless you because of your Christian values, and this is something to rejoice about.

Psalms 118:24

“24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

This should be our testimony every day.  We should start and finish every single day with this attitude of rejoicing in our hearts, regardless of what is happening around us. Because many times, trouble surrounds our lives.  But Psalms 118:24 shows us that regardless every day is a good day in the Lord.  Some days are truly better than others, but we need to remember the scripture.  This is a day that the Lord hath made!  We will rejoice and be glad in it!  I’ll share with you a chorus that we sing at home.

Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before because there is nothing that God cannot keep us through, and His grace is always sufficient.  If we walk in the light as He is in the light, what should we fear?  If we are obedient to the will and plan of God, we are in His favor, and there is no better place to be than in God’s favor.  When we are in God’s favor, we can rejoice and rejoice.

So, my challenge to you today is that we need to rejoice in the Lord.  I also want to let the young people know that the scriptures do not say rejoicing is only for older people.  God calls on the young people to rejoice and praise Him for what He has done for them too.

Psalms 20:5

“5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.”

We need to rejoice in our salvation and set up our banners of praise.  The Lord will hear our prayers as we rejoice in this great Salvation, He has given us.  Rejoice in the Lord and give God the praise He is due.

Psalms 32:11

“11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.”

Psalms 33:1

“33 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.”

These two verses show us that rejoicing in the Lord is natural for those upright in their heart.  If we give God praise throughout the day and into the night, it won’t take much for us to rejoice and praise Him when the Saints come together.  When we come together and worship, God wants us to let the praises flow.  Our amens will flow freely, and we will lift our hands up to rejoice during the songs.  And why?  Because we’ve been rejoicing throughout the day.  God wants us to have the spirit of rejoicing every day, showing that we are glad for what God has done for us.

Psalms 33:21

“21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.”

Young people, I’d like to point out that none of these scriptures talk about age, whether you are eight years old, 10 years old, or 12 years old.  God is calling all young people to say this is the day that the Lord has made!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!  This praise comes easily if we’ve asked God in our hearts and turned our lives over to Him.  But if we don’t know God and have sin in our hearts, this praise will not come very easily.  Some people mock the Saints who are rejoicing.  Here is what the Psalmist has to say about this –thank the Lord.

Psalms 35:26

“26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.”

If people mock you because you are praising God, let it go.  God wants our praise, and God wants young people to give Him praise too.  Thank God for the Saints and thank God for the times we can give Him praise for the things He’s done for us.  Some people say, I am rejoicing in my heart, and that’s good, but I think God also wants us to open our mouths and rejoice with our lips.  In case you might not believe the Bible backs this up, let’s look at Psalms 71:23.

Psalms 71:23.

“23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.”

The scripture says “my lips”; this means there is a sound coming out.  I believe God wants us as Christians to show a joyful spirit to the world because of what He has done for us.  To testify to the world around us, we need to proclaim and share the good things God does for us.  If you walk up to someone who doesn’t know God and begin talking about how horrible life is with a pout on your face, how will you then say you serve a God that can help and strengthen you?  So, I believe God wants us to share this praise with the world or those around us who don’t know God.  We need to give God praise as our testimony– rejoice in Him.

Zephaniah 3:14

“14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.”

God wants us to rejoice with all our hearts.  I challenge today to look at Psalms 118 every day and say, this is a day that the Lord has made!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!
