"الله وحده قادر على تحريك الجبال ، لكن الإيمان والصلاة يستطيعان تحريك الله."

This quote from a song in one of our choir books here in California reminds us that there is great power in even a little faith when God is with us.  Let’s look at what Jesus said about faith.

متى 17:20

20 فقال لهم يسوع بسبب عدم ايمانكم لاني الحق اقول لكم ان كان لكم ايمان مثل حبة خردل تقولون لهذا الجبل انطلقوا من هنا الى مكان آخر. ويجب إزالتها ؛ ولا شيء يستحيل عليك "

Faith is a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.  We see in the scripture that Jesus said we only need faith as a grain of mustard seed to move mountains.  Mustard seeds are tiny little seeds.  Did you know that all we need is a tiny bit of faith for prayer to work?

عبرانيين ١١: ١

11 واما الايمان فهو جوهر المأمول والدليل على ما لم ير.

Faith does the impossible because it moves God to undertake for us, and nothing is impossible with God.

مرقس 10:27

"27 فنظر إليهم يسوع فقال: عند الناس مستحيل ، لكن ليس عند الله ، لأن كل شيء مستطاع عند الله."

Faith produces and works in conjunction with prayer.  I firmly believe if we pray with faith and God answers our prayer, our prayer life and faith grow stronger.  As young people, we need to understand that a lack of faith is rooted in a poor prayer life.  In other words, if we are not praying to God, our faith will be small.  When was the last time you prayed to God and asked Him to help you?  When was the last time you prayed for a soul to receive Salvation?  When was the last time you spent more than a couple of minutes crying out to God to answer your prayer?  Has your prayer life become weak, and subsequently, your faith in God is also weak?  God wants to answer our prayers, but we must bring our petitions to God in prayer.  Praying is something we need to learn to do as young people.  When we are in a situation that we cannot control, we should have faith that we can reach out to God for help.

Think about Abraham and when he prayed for Lot to be saved out of Sodom and Gomorra.

تكوين 18: 23-33

23 فتقدم ابراهيم وقال هل تهلك ايضا البار مع الشرير.

24 عسى ان يكون هناك خمسون بارا في المدينة. فهل انت ايضا تهلك المكان ولا تعف عنه من اجل الخمسين بارا الذين فيه.

25 ابعد عنك ان تفعل هكذا ان تميت الصديق مع الاشرار ولكي يكون الصديق كالشرير بعيدين عنك. أفلا يصنع ديان كل الارض مستقيما.

26 فقال الرب ان وجدت في سدوم خمسين بارا في المدينة فاني اصفح عن المكان كله من اجلهم.

27 فاجاب ابراهيم وقال اني قد حملتني ان اكلم الرب الذي انا تراب ورماد.

28 عسى ان يعوز خمسة من الخمسين بارا. أتهلك المدينة كلها لعدم خمسة. فقال ان وجدت هناك خمسة واربعين لا اهلك.

29 فعاد يكلمه ايضا وقال عسى ان يوجد هناك اربعون. فقال لا أفعل من أجل الأربعين.

30 فقال له لا يغضب الرب فاتكلم عسى ان يوجد هناك ثلاثون. فقال لا افعل ان وجدت هناك ثلاثين.

31 فقال اني قد جعلتني اكلم الرب عسى ان يوجد هناك عشرون. فقال لا اهلك من اجل عشرين.

32 فقال لا يغضب الرب فاتكلم بعد هذه المرة. عسى ان يوجد هناك عشرة. فقال لا اهلك من اجل العشرة.

33 وذهب الرب حالما فر من الكلام مع ابراهيم ورجع ابراهيم الى مكانه.

We find Lot, Abraham’s nephew put himself in a terrible situation.  Abraham had the faith to go to God and ask Him for big things.  I don’t think this was the first time Abraham talked to God in prayer.  I am convinced that God knew Abraham on a first name basis because we also find in the scriptures that God was listening to Abraham.  Abraham was a man of prayer.

What about Moses and his petitions to God to spare the Israelite people?  Moses was a man of prayer.  Whenever the Israelites disobeyed God, Moses fell on his face before God and started praying.

خروج 32: 11-14

11 وتضرع موسى الى الرب الهه وقال يا رب لماذا يشتعل غضبك على شعبك الذي اخرجته من ارض مصر بقوة عظيمة ويد شديدة.

12 لماذا يتكلم المصريون ويقولون من اجل الشر اخرجهم ليقتلهم في الجبال ويفنيهم عن وجه الارض. ارجع عن حمو غضبك وتوب عن الشر على شعبك.

13 اذكر ابراهيم واسحق واسرائيل عبيدك الذين اقسمت لهم بنفسك وقلت لهم اضرب نسلك كنجوم السماء وكل هذه الارض التي تكلمت عنها سأعطيها. نسلك ويرثونه الى الابد.

14 وندم الرب عن الشر الذي ظن ان يصنعه بشعبه.

What about Elijah on the mountain with the prophets of Baal?  Remember Baal’s prophets tried all day to get their God’s attention.  The prophets danced around and cut themselves, but their God did not respond.  On the other hand, Elijah had a connection to God through prayer.

1 ملوك 18: 37- 38

37 اسمعني يا رب استجب لي ليعلم هذا الشعب انك انت الرب الاله وانك ردت قلوبهم رجوعا.

38 فسقطت نار الرب وأكلت المحرقة والحطب والحجارة والتراب ولحست الماء الذي في القناة.

I am convinced that God knew Elijah’s voice when he prayed because Elijah prayed consistently to God.  So, when Elijah prayed, God heard and answered his Prayer.

Daniel 1:1-21

1 في السنة الثالثة ليهوياقيم ملك يهوذا جاء نبوخذناصّر ملك بابل الى اورشليم وحاصرها.

2 فدفع الرب بيده يهوياقيم ملك يهوذا مع بعض آنية بيت الله فجاء بها الى ارض شنعار الى بيت الهه. فجاء بالآنية الى خزينة بيت الهه.

3 فقال الملك لأشبناز سيد خصييه ان يأتي ببعض بني اسرائيل ومن نسل الملك والرؤساء.

4 أطفال لا عيب فيهم ، بل مفضلين ، وماهرين في كل حكمة ، ومكر في المعرفة ، وفهم العلم ، والذين لديهم القدرة على الوقوف في قصر الملك ، والذين قد يعلمونهم التعلم والتعليم. لسان الكلدانيين.

5 وجعل لهم الملك طعاما كل يوم من اطايب الملك ومن خمر يشربه فتغذيتهم ثلاث سنين حتى يقفوا في نهايتها امام الملك.

6 ومن هؤلاء من بني يهوذا دانيال وحننيا وميشائيل وعزريا.

7 الذي سماه رئيس الخصيان اسماء لانه دعا دانيال اسم بلطشاصر. وحننيا من شدرخ. وميشائيل ميشخ. وعزريا من عبد نغو.

8 لكن دانيال قصد في قلبه ألا يتنجس بأطعمة الملك ولا بالخمر الذي يشربه ، لذلك طلب من رئيس الخصيان ألا يتنجس.

9 وكان الله قد جعل دانيال نعمة ورحمة مع رئيس الخصيان.

10 فقال رئيس الخصيان لدانيال اني اخاف سيدي الملك الذي جعل لحمك وشربك. فلماذا يرى وجوهك اعجاب من اولادك. فتجعلونني خطرا على راسي للملك.

11 فقال دانيال لميلزار الذي اقامه رئيس الخصيان على دانيال وحننيا وميشائيل وعزريا.

12 امتحن عبيدك عشرة ايام. وليعطونا نبضًا لنأكل وماء نشرب.

13 فلينظر الى مناظرنا امامك ووجه الاولاد الذين يأكلون من اطايب الملك. وكما ترى اصنع بعبيدك.

14 فسمع لهم هذا الامر وجربهم عشرة ايام.

15 وعند نهاية العشرة الايام ظهرت مناظرهم احسن واسمن لحما من كل الاولاد الذين يأكلون من اطايب الملك.

16 فنزع ميلزار اطايبهم وخمرهم الذي يشربونه. وأعطاهم النبض.

17 أما بالنسبة لهؤلاء الأطفال الأربعة ، فقد أعطاهم الله المعرفة والمهارة في كل علم وحكمة: وكان دانيال فهماً في كل الرؤى والأحلام.

18 وفي نهاية الايام التي قال الملك ان يدخلهم فيها ادخلهم رئيس الخصيان امام نبوخذناصّر.

19 فكلمهم الملك. ولم يوجد بينهم جميعهم مثل دانيال وحننيا وميشائيل وعزريا. لذلك وقفوا أمام الملك.

20 وفي كل أمور الحكمة والفهم التي سأل عنها الملك ، وجدها أفضل بعشر مرات من جميع السحرة والمنجمين الذين في كل مملكته.

21 واما دانيال فكان حتى السنة الاولى لكورش الملك.

Daniel was also a man of prayer.  Daniel was an exiled Jew in Babylon, taken there as a boy.  He belonged to a noble family and was exceptionally able and intelligent.  Daniel lived through two kings and then finally King Darius.  King Darius divided his kingdom into one hundred and twenty provinces and appointed a prince or ruler over each province.  Over the princes, King Darius appointed three presidents, and over the presidents, King Darius placed Daniel.  About this time, Daniel was in his eighties, and his position made him second to the throne.  The princes and presidents below him became jealous and wanted Daniel out of the way.  They looked high and low to find fault with Daniel but couldn’t find anything wrong with his character.  But they did notice is Daniel kept the laws of his God and continually prayed.  What a testimony!  Even his worst enemies couldn’t find any fault in Daniel’s life.  Character is worth more than money or anything in this world.  Daniel’s character was perfect.  Because of their wicked jealousy, the princes and presidents devised a plan to get Daniel out of the way.  They went to King Darius and persuaded him to make a proclamation that prayer to any other than the King himself would be punishable by death.  This proclamation meant anyone caught praying to anything other than King Darius would be thrown into the lion’s den.

دانيال ٦: ٦.٧

6 فاجتمع هؤلاء الرؤساء والرؤساء الى الملك وقالوا له هكذا احيا ايها الملك داريوس الى الابد.

7 تشاور جميع رؤساء المملكة ، والولاة ، والأمراء ، والمستشارون ، والقادة معًا لوضع نظام ملكي ، ولإصدار مرسوم صارم ، بأن كل من يطلب التماسًا من أي إله أو رجل ثلاثين يوما غيرك أيها الملك يطرح في جب الأسود.

Daniel could have stopped praying.  He could have hidden, but Daniel was not a weak Christian!  He had moral stamina and courage!  Daniel was not ashamed to be caught on his knees praying to the true God.

دانيال ٦: ١٠- ١١

10 فلما علم دانيال ان الكتابة قد وقعت ، دخل بيته. وكانت كواه مفتوحة في غرفته نحو أورشليم ، فجثا على ركبتيه ثلاث مرات في اليوم ، وكان يصلي ويشكر أمام إلهه كما كان يفعل من قبل.

11 فاجتمع هؤلاء الرجال ووجدوا دانيال يصلي ويتضرع امام الهه.

Daniel loved God so much that he was not afraid to open his window and pray just as he had done in times past.  The princes immediately told King Darius what Daniel had done, and the King became sorrowful because he loved Daniel.  He didn’t want to throw Daniel into the lions’ den.  But Daniel was not afraid because he believed God would deliver him.  Daniel felt prayer to God was so important he was ready to give his life for it.

الصلاة شيء علينا القيام به كل يوم. أتحداك كشاب أن تتأكد من قضاء الوقت مع الله في الصلاة.

فيلبي 4: 6

“6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
